Patrik Jarlestam born 1985 in Löddeköpinge, Skåne.
Patrik Jarlestam is also active as musician, playing percussion in the ensemble of Tonmakeriet and drums in the hard-rock band Hom Dai.
Patrik Jarlestam has always been fascinated by language, music and other cultures and when he, at the age of 20, was admitted to the composer education at Gotland´s school of composing he found means to integrate all these interests.
Patrik Jarlestam continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm for Pär Lindgren followed by master studies at the same school for
Karin Rehnqvist.
Patrik Jarlestam finished his master exam in 2012, by performing two operas,
"The 4444:e day" and
"We burn".
"We burn" is a chamber opera for classical singers, folk music choir and folk musicians based on the Arab Spring .
Patrik Jarlestam has also specialized in the integration of lights on the scene as part of the composition, he gives concerts with instruments, electronic devices and light riggs.
Patrik Jarlestam had in December of 2012 a premier for a piece for saxophones, elektronics, light and 5-ton crane in an old nuclear power hall (R1) at Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm. Videoclip and coming concertinfo is available on Patrik Jarlestam´s homepage.
