Claire Moncharmont is a French harpist based in Scandinavia with an extensive international career. She holds a solid education that includes a Bachelor's degree from Musikene in San Sebastián, as well as two Master's degrees: one in solo performance from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and one in orchestral performance from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg. Prior to this, she studied at the Conservatory of Versailles and at the Sorbonne in Paris.
As an orchestral musician, Claire Moncharmont is regularly engaged as principal harpist in leading orchestras such as the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. She also possesses unique expertise in early music and has toured major European stages – including the Berlin Philharmonie, the BBC Proms, and the Opéra Royal de Versailles – with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique under the direction of Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
Claire Moncharmont is an award-winning soloist who, among other accolades, won 1st prize in the national round of the Worldvision Music Contest (2021). She has performed as a soloist in works such as Glière's Harp Concerto and Debussy's Dances, and has received prestigious scholarships from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music on several occasions.
Alongside her solo and orchestral assignments, she is deeply committed to chamber music, including as a member of the Nordic artist collective Hehku Ensemble. In addition to her performing career, Claire Moncharmont has extensive experience as an educator and has for many years taught students of all ages, from beginners to advanced levels.
